Dude, No One Reads Your Blog

image
You ever get that feeling? You know the one I”m talking about, the one that tells you that only your mom reads your blog; and she only does because, well she”s your mom.

I get that feeling all the time. A blogger that I follow consistently at theisleofman.net asked the question yesterday, “what are some reasons you don”t write?” I even did my own, “why I stopped writing” post a few entries ago. Well not to sound all needy or egotistical here, but sometimes I get jealous of those bloggers out there that hit 10 comments every post without half of them being their own replies. Don”t get me wrong, I”m thrilled any time I get just one comment. It means I struck a chord with at least one person; but there”s always that thought that creeps in, “dude, no one reads your blog. No need to keep it up; no one cares what you have to say.”

I know there are all kinds of advice pieces out there on how to stir up traffic, but I guess I”m just half-assing it and don”t care that much. I’m banking on no one reading this and getting offended by that last sentence. Anyway, just call this my “I”m frustrated that only a few people comment on my blog posts” post. I”m pouring out pure gold here people; you should all be acknowledging it.

I tried to be a little humorous with this, but there”s truth to it too. I”ll try to do better of writing more often and things that you care about. But if you do care about something even if you want to tell me I”m wrong about it, speak up. I”m asking you to go beyond what is normal advice for addicts and feed my egotism. 🙂

I love you all even if you don”t comment, but I feel the love back when you do. And I”m sorry for using the “a” word back there.

So question time, what could I write about that would make you, yes you comment?

Surprise, Philip – I read the blog post (I’ve been here at least once before – check your logs 🙂 ), wasn’t offended in the least, and expect to come back again. You do plan on writing more often, yes? 🙂

That’s it! You’ve done it now! – You’re goin’ to Hell! – You said the “A” word!

I don’t think it matters to how many hits a person gets, as typical of all of us fallen creatures, we all want more… I’m in the process of trying to get a manuscript picked up by agents and I believe it’s pretty good, but they act like I’m a leper…

Keep it up, brother! Remember Who it is we write for… in the end if it glorifies Him, it is a job well done.

Hilarious post! I needed this today.

Lol thanks Floyd, thanks for getting the humor in the post. 🙂

And thanks for the reminder, I know it’s human nature to want more and more recognition but it never has been and never will be about me. Good luck with the manuscript! I’m rooting for you.

  3. I’m one of those bloggers that half my comments are my replies, but I don’t care so much anymore. I started writing because I wanted to encourage and engage with other people and because I wanted to develop the gift God gave me. When I get into the lean times, I have to remember that. So many people have come and gone and I definitely don’t get as many comments or hits as I once did, but at this point, there’s not a lot I can do about it. I have to keep the purpose straight in mind and heart. What tomorrow brings, who knows?

PS I think I’ve commented on 90% of your posts so I’m here for you. 🙂
